French boxer Mourad Aliev, who staged an hour-long ringside sit-in after being disqualified for head-butting at the Tokyo Olympics, has filed for a re-match of his super heavyweight quarterfinal, the international sports arbitration body said on Monday.

Aliev was disqualified on Sunday for what the referee deemed an intentional head-butt. The Moscow-born Frenchman expressed his contempt for the decision by spitting out his mouth guard and kicking it away, flashing offensive gestures and then shaking and punching a television camera.

He staged a ringside sit-in for about an hour in protest. His opponent, Britain's Frazer Clarke, won with four seconds left in the second round.

Aliev, the French Boxing Federation and the French National Olympic and Sport Committee have filed to have the disqualification annulled and a re-match held from the beginning of the second round, with a different referee and judges, according to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Arbitrators were due to hold a hearing on Monday and would issue a final decision as soon as possible, it said.
