Aironi racked up just their second win of the RaboDirect PRO12 season by defeating Italian rivals Treviso 27-13 at the Stadio Luigi Zaffanella on Friday evening.
The hosts opened up an early 6-3 lead, with fly-half Luciano Orquera having outscored his opposite number de Waal by two penalties to one, but they then lost fullback Andrea Masi to the sin bin on 28 minutes.
However, while Willem de Waal kicked Treviso level soon after, Orquera replied in kind while Aironi were still down to 14 before landing two more strikes on goal just before the break to send the home side in 15-6 to the good at the interval.
The Italy international added three more penalties during the third quarter as Aironi surged clear but they lost some momentum when lock Marco Bortolami was sent to the sin with 13 minutes to go.
Treviso gave themselves a chance of at least salvaging a bonus poing when they forced a penalty try on 73 minutes but Orquera hadn't gone away and he punished more ill-discipline from the visitors with his ninth penalty of the evening to seal a morale-boosting win for the home side.
