Blues winger Frank Halai is set to join Premiership club Wasps next season, according to reports in the English press.

Halai, who has one cap for the All Blacks and was the top try-scorer in Super Rugby in 2013, rose to prominence with the New Zealand Sevens side before replicating his explosive form in the 15-man game and is considered one of the most clinical finishers in the southern hemisphere.

According to the Telegraph, Halai will join fellow Kiwi Jimmy Gopperth at the club's new home at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry and will fill the void left by experienced wing Tom Varndell, who is heading to Bristol next season.

Halai's signing is expected to be confirmed next week and he will become the latest of a string of New Zealanders to join Premiership clubs next season. Ben Franks' move to London Irish, reported exclusively by ESPN last Monday, is expected to be announced this week, while Jeremy Thrush will join Gloucester.
