England winger Denny Solomona has signed a new four-year deal with Aviva Premiership side Sale Sharks, keeping him at the club until 2022.

Solomona signed for Sale after making the switch from league to union back in December 2016, making a big impact in his first season at the club. His form, scoring 11 tries in 16 appearances, saw him called up by Eddie Jones for the summer tour to Argentina, scoring the winning try on his debut to get his England career off to the perfect start.

"I'm really pleased to have signed an extended contract with Sale," said Solomona on his new deal. "There couldn't be a better environment for me to play my rugby.

"Dimes [Steve Diamond, Sale's director of rugby] and all the coaches have all been great and I'm very excited about the future here with a great bunch of guys."

Diamond added: "Denny has really enjoyed his time here and we thought it was right to offer him another long-term deal so we are delighted he has signed.

"He is a world-class finisher and a thoroughly great lad who is on the verge of playing for England all the time and he's really great asset to have around."

On Wednesday morning Sale announced that Mike Haley had agreed a three-year deal to join Irish province Munster.

Preston-born fullback Haley, 23, has played for England Saxons and for the senior side in a non-cap match against the Barbarians but is Irish qualified.

He said: "Obviously it was a very, very difficult decision. I've spent many happy years here at Sale but after lots of careful thought I just felt that it was a once in a lifetime opportunity I had to take.

"I have a strong family connections with Munster and used to go there all the time when I was younger and being eligible to play for Ireland was another big factor."
