Scarlets will be without Leigh Halfpenny when they take on Glasgow Warriors in Friday night's PRO14 semifinal.

Wales fullback Halfpenny has been ruled out of the clash at Scotstoun with a torn hamstring.

In good news for the Welsh region, Johnny McNicholl is in contention to make his first appearance since February and could take Halfpenny's place at fullback.

"Leigh has a small tear there so with any luck, should we get through the semi-final then he may be available for the final," Scarlets coach Wayne Pivac said.

"Johnny has been training really, really well for the last couple of weeks.

"The last obstacle for him was full contact and he's done that and come through so he's available for selection."
