Alex Lozowski will miss England's opening autumn international against South Africa after his two week ban was extended.

Lozowski had been banned for two weeks after being found guilty of dangerously entering a ruck during Saracens' 13-3 Champions Cup victory over Glasgow Warriors on Oct. 14.

That ban ruled the Saracens centre out of last weekend's Champions Cup clash against Lyon as well as a Premiership Cup match against Leicester Tigers on Oct. 27.

However, European Professional Club Rugby [EPCR] ordered a review into the ban after realizing Lozowski would be sitting out that fixture to attend England's training camp in Portugal.

"Had the player not received a sanction, he would not in the normal course of events have been expected to play in the match against Leicester," a statement from EPCR read.

"It was concluded that in the context of Lozowski's suspension, Saracens' match against Leicester should not be regarded as one the player would have been expected to play in on account of his England selection."

England were willing to release Lozowski for the Premiership Cup tie in order for it to count against his suspension, but EPCR's Disciplinary Committee concluded that the fixture should not count as he would not have been involved had he not received the ban.

The decision to extend the suspension means Lozowski will be unable to play a part in neither England's Nov. 3 Test with South Africa nor Saracens' Premiership Cup tie on Nov. 2 against Sale Sharks.

Lozowski, who has four caps to his name, will be eligible for England's second autumn Test match, which comes against New Zealand on Nov. 10.
