Waratahs sign Fiji finisher Nemani Nadolo

The Waratahs have officially confirmed the signing of Fiji-international Nemani Nadolo on a one-year deal for the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific season.

A former Waratah, who was contracted with the club in 2008, the star winger has plied his trade in France, England and Japan as well as with the Crusaders, where he was one of their standout performers, ending the 2014 season as the competition's equal leading try-scorer with 12.

Making his international debut for Fiji in 2010, Nadolo linked with Darren Coleman for the first time while he was assistant coach and scored an impressive 22 tries across 32 Tests.

Most recently, Nadolo finished the 2021-22 season at Leicester Tigers where he scored 10 tries from 21 matches in Premiership Rugby.

A strong ball-carrier and known finisher, Nadolo adds knowledge and experience to a Waratahs squad that has seen a massive turnaround under Coleman's tutelage since his arrival at the start of 2022.

Over a decade after he last pulled on the Waratahs jersey, Nadolo said he's excited to be coming back to the club.

"Who would've thought after leaving these doors 12 years ago I'd get another opportunity to be part of the club again," Nadolo said.

"I'm grateful to Darren and the board for having faith in me and giving me another opportunity.

"NSW are heading in the right direction and I'm glad I can be a part of their journey."

Looking to build on a strong 2022 season which saw his team make a finals appearance a year after they failed to win a Super Rugby match, Coleman said a lack of size and power hindered their progression into the back stages of the season.

"We've all seen what Nemani has done in World Rugby in the last ten years and it's incredibly exciting to have him in a sky-blue jersey," Coleman said.

"One of the things we identified from our season review was the need to add some size and power to our roster, and Nemani brings a lot of size and physicality which will add an extra dimension to our team.

"He's motivated to get back to Sydney have another crack at Super Rugby and push his claims to get in the Fijian Test team for their 2023 Rugby World Cup campaign."

Nadolo will join the squad on December 1 for preseason.
