Cunningham's pair push Crew past Fire

  RECAP | BOX SCORE

CHICAGO (AP) -- Jeff Cunningham scored twice to lead the Columbus Crew to a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Fire on Thursday night.

Columbus' Brian West, right, blocks a shot by Chicago's Diego Gutierrez in front of referee Brian Hall.

Chicago's Roman Kosecki opened the scoring in the third minute on a free kick that beat Crew goalkeeper Mark Dougherty.

Cunningham tied it three minutes later and added the game-winner in the 21st minute. Andy Williams assisted on Cunningham's second goal, which squirted in from about eight yards out.

Both teams have already clinched playoff berths but are looking to improve their home-field advantage in the postseason.

The Fire was playing its final home game of the regular season without Josh Wolff, who underwent knee surgery Thursday, while Robert Warzycha of the Crew was sidelined after receiving a yellow card in a previous game.
