Vandy coach Stephanie White adds ex-teammate Kelly Komara to staff

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- New Vanderbilt women's basketball coach Stephanie White has added former Purdue teammate Kelly Komara to her staff.

Vanderbilt announced Wednesday that Komara has been hired as an assistant coach.

White and Komara were both members of Purdue's 1999 national championship team that was coached by Carolyn Peck, who will be part of White's Vanderbilt staff as an associate coach.

Komara played for Purdue from 1998-200 and had been an assistant coach for the Boilermakers the past two seasons. Komara also has worked at Valparaiso, Auburn and Northwestern in a variety of roles.

White is continuing to coach the WNBA's Indiana Fever after being hired by Vanderbilt two weeks ago. She will take over Vanderbilt's program on a full-time basis after the Fever's season concludes.
