Arkansas names Mike Neighbors as women's head coach

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Former Washington coach Mike Neighbors has been hired as new women's basketball coach at Arkansas.

Neighbors was 98-41 in four seasons with the Huskies and led the school to its first Final Four in 2016. He replaces Jimmy Dykes, who resigned last month after three seasons.

An Arkansas native, Neighbors took over Washington in 2013 -- his first collegiate head coaching job after working as an assistant with the Huskies and at schools such as Xavier, Arkansas, Colorado and Tulsa.

Neighbors called Arkansas his "dream job,'' and said "everyone who knows me knows that.''

While at Washington, Neighbors coached Kelsey Plum, the NCAA's all-time leading scorer.
