LSU fifth-year senior Ayana Mitchell (knee) out for season

LSU announced Wednesday that fifth-year senior forward Ayana Mitchell's college career is over after it was confirmed that she suffered a season-ending knee injury. Mitchell was hurt in LSU's 59-58 win over Texas A&M on Sunday.

Mitchell was the second-leading scorer (13.2 points per game) and leading rebounder (8.9 per game) this season for the Tigers, who are 16-5 overall and 6-3 (tied for fourth) in the SEC.

Mitchell finishes No. 6 on LSU's all-time rebounding list with 911. She is No. 22 in scoring (1,275) and third in career field goal percentage (59.5). Mitchell is just ahead of current WNBA standout center Sylvia Fowles, whose career field goal percentage at LSU was 58.4.

"We are extremely sad with the loss of Ayana, but the legacy she has left for this program is unmeasurable," LSU head coach Nikki Fargas.
