Maryland 3-point specialist Taylor Mikesell will transfer to Oregon

Guard Taylor Mikesell, one of the top 3-point shooters in the Big Ten the past two seasons with Maryland, is transferring to Oregon.

Mikesell, a native of Ohio, averaged 12.3 points and shot 41.8 percent from 3-point range as a two-year starter for the Terrapins. She was Big Ten freshman of the year in 2019, when she made 95 of 231 3-pointers. This past season, she made 90 of 212 from long range.

The 5-foot-11 Mikesell was sixth on ESPN.com's list of non-graduate transfers. She joins an Oregon program that has won three straight Pac-12 regular-season titles and two of the past three league tournament championships. Oregon was seventh in Division I last season in 3-pointers per game with an average of 9.4.

But the Ducks lost Sabrina Ionescu (60 3-pointers) and Satou Sabally (45), who were the first and second picks in the WNBA draft. The Ducks return their top 3-point shooter from last season, Erin Boley (78). Mikesell will petition to try to play immediately and has two years of eligibility remaining.

"We are thrilled to be able to add a player of Taylor's caliber," Oregon coach Kelly Graves said. "She is a proven winner and one of the very best pure shooters in the nation. And she'll add another veteran presence to our young team. Taylor is a tremendous fit for our program and I can't wait to get her to Eugene."
