No. 3 Louisville Cardinals women's basketball game vs. Syracuse Orange postponed

Women's College Basketball, Louisville Cardinals, Syracuse Orange, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, NC State Wolfpack

The No. 3-ranked Louisville women's basketball team is dealing with a COVID-19-related disruption in play for the second time this season.

The ACC announced Friday that the Louisville vs. Syracuse game scheduled for Sunday has been postponed due to a positive test, subsequent quarantining and contact tracing in the Cardinals' program.

League-leading Louisville, 19-1 and 12-1 ACC, also had a COVID-19-related pause in December and had a game postponed vs. North Carolina that has since been made up. The Cardinals have only three more scheduled games in February, so they might have time to reschedule the Syracuse matchup before the ACC tournament.

One other ACC women's program, Notre Dame, also announced Friday it had COVID-19 positive tests, forcing the postponement of Monday's game against No. 4 NC State.

The Irish are 8-8 overall and 6-6 (sixth place) in the ACC. The Wolfpack, 13-2, are second in the league at 8-2. NC State had a three-week COVID-19 pause in January. The Wolfpack's next scheduled game is Thursday at Wake Forest.
