Nearly two weeks after a former junior national wrestling champion Sagar Rana was murdered outside the parking lot of New Delhi's Chhatrasal stadium, the Delhi Police have announced a reward of Rs. 1 lakh for any information that leads to the arrest of two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar, who is on the run. A reward of Rs 50,000 has also been placed on Sushil's associate, Ajay Kumar, who is a physical education teacher.

"We have announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for information leading to his arrest of Sushil and Rs 50,000 on Ajay," DCP (north-west) Usha Rangrani told The Indian Express.

The Police reward comes two days after a Delhi court had issued non-bailable warrants against Sushil and nine others in connection with the murder of Rana. The police had earlier issued a look-out-circular (LoC) against him.

On May 4, Sagar Rana, who had competed in the 97-kg Greco-Roman category, was beaten to death in a clash involving two groups. Sushil Kumar has been on the run since, after an FIR was registered against him under IPC sections 302 (murder), abduction (365), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) at Model Town police station.

"In the initial probe, it has come out that... Sushil Pehelwan (Kumar) and his aides committed this crime...," the FIR read.

Sushil has denied he had anything to do with the incident. "They weren't our wrestlers, it happened late last night. We have informed police officials that some unknown people jumped into our premises and fought. No connection of our stadium with this incident," Sushil told ANI a day after the incident. He has remained incommunicado since then.
