Simone Johnson, daughter of The Rock, signs on with WWE

Laying the smack down is clearly the family business.

Simone Johnson, the 18-year-old daughter of The Rock, has signed with WWE and has reported to the promotion's Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, WWE announced Monday.

If and when she makes her WWE in-ring debut, Johnson will be the first fourth-generation star in promotion history. Johnson's father, Dwayne Johnson, is one of the biggest names in WWE history and now one of the most successful stars in Hollywood. Her grandfather was the late Rocky Johnson, an African American pro-wrestling pioneer. And her great-grandfather -- The Rock's grandfather -- was "High Chief" Peter Maivia.

"To the little girl who fell in love with wrestling & said 'this will be my life one day', this is for you," Johnson wrote on Instagram. "I'm humbled, grateful & ready to work. Let's do this."

Simone Johnson has been training at the Performance Center on and off since 2018, though she was in high school at the time. This move to Orlando will be full time with an eye toward a career in WWE.

"Simone Johnson's unbridled passion and incredible drive has earned her a coveted spot training with the elite athletes from around the world at the WWE Performance Center," WWE executive Paul "Triple H" Levesque said in a statement. "Not only does Simone now have an opportunity to cultivate and display her passion for WWE within the Performance Center, but she'll carry on the tradition of her incredible family lineage while creating her own impact as WWE's first fourth-generation superstar."

WWE Performance Center head coach Matt Bloom said in the release that Johnson has "been crushing it" in training. Assistant coach Sara Amato said Johnson is like "a sponge."

"She knows what it takes to succeed and all the hard work and sacrifice that goes into it," Amato said. "I wouldn't have expected anything less."

In 2018, Dwayne Johnson told "Good Morning America" that Simone's dream was to be a WWE wrestler. On Monday night, he congratulated her on making the dream that much closer to a reality.

"Dreams ain't just for dreamers," Dwayne Johnson captioned a photo of the two embracing. "Congrats to my #1 born, Simone Johnson on officially signing her wrestling contract with @wwe @wwenxt and on her way to becoming the first ever 4th generation WWE athlete. Carry our family name proudly, but your road will always be yours to create, earn & own.

"So proud. Live your dream. Let's work."
