Katrina's lasting devastation

Dead fish were scattered across Interstate 10 after floodwaters receded in New Orleans. To say the fishery was decimated may be an understatement.

In mid-August, Ricky Naquin and his fishing partner Jerome Danos put 21 pounds of bass on the scales to win a popular invitational tournament in the Lousiana Delta.

Five fish. Twenty-one pounds. In August. The dog days. The sweating, blistering heart of the summer doldrums.

Unusual? Not necessarily.
