BOX SCORE
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) _ Kevin Tapani pitched six strong innings, and Julio Zuleta and Tarrik Brock each had two RBIs Tuesday to lead the Chicago Cubs over the Colorado Rockies 9-3. Cubs shortstop Jose Nieves aggravated a right groin injury while chasing a foul popup in the first inning and left the game. He was listed as day to day. Chicago scored four runs in the sixth off Kevin Jarvis and added three more in the ninth off Giovanni Carrara. Tapani, in his longest outing of the spring, allowed two runs and eight hits in six innings for the win. He shut out the Rockies before pinch-hitter Bubba Carpenter's two-run single in the sixth. Loser Pedro Astacio gave up one run and two hits in four innings. Chicago got a run in the first on doubles by Corey Patterson and Zuleta. Ex-Rockie Eric Young led off the sixth with a triple. Shane Andrews and Damon Buford had RBI doubles, and Patterson and Alan Zinter each had sacrifice flies. Brock, a speedy outfielder who has no major league experience but could make the Cubs' roster, had a two-run single. Zuleta, who went 3-for-5, had an RBI single in the ninth. Colorado's other run came on Raul Casanova's run-scoring single in the ninth.
