TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) _ Magglio Ordonez set a team record with his eighth spring training homer as the Chicago White Sox beat the San Francisco Giants 9-7 on Thursday.

Ordonez went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs. His two-run homer in the first inning to break the White Sox record held by Buddy Bradford and Greg Walker.

The White Sox also got a boost from Frank Thomas, who returned to the starting lineup after missing five games with a strained left rib-cage muscle. Thomas went 1-for-4 and is batting .405 in the Cactus League.

The Giants jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning against Chicago starter Mike Sirotka, who gave up three runs and 10 hits in six innings.

Jeff Kent, who was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, had an RBI double in the opening inning. Felipe Crespo drove in the second run with a sacrifice fly and Russ Davis added another RBI double.

Chicago tied the game at 3-3 in the second inning when Eric Christopherson's sacrifice fly scored Carlos Lee from third.

In the fifth inning, the White Sox took a 5-3 lead. Ordonez singled to score Jose Valentin and Greg Norton's sacrifice fly brought Thomas home.

In the top of the eighth inning, San Francisco scored four runs off Tanyon Sturtze to take a 7-5 lead. Kent had a sacrifice fly RBI, Davis hit a run-scoring double and Terrell Lowrey hit a two-run homer.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Sox also scored four runs and held on for their fifth straight win.
