EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) -- The Edmonton Oilers needed a little time to get up to full speed against the Boston Bruins.

Bill Guerin scored twice as Edmonton rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat Boston 4-2 on Wednesday night.

Boston was playing just hours after Bruins defenseman Marty McSorley received a season-ending suspension for a stick attack on Vancouver's Donald Brashear on Monday night.

Ethan Moreau and Sean Brown also scored for the Oilers, who trailed 2-0 midway through the first period. Todd Marchant added two assists, and Bill Ranford made 29 saves.

"The way we played from the latter part of the first on sticks out," Oilers coach Kevin Lowe said. "The guys talked about not giving up the third goal.

"Now that our confidence is up, we're scoring some goals. We're moving the puck around well and they're going in for us. It's part of the maturing process of this team."

Don Sweeney opened the scoring for Boston at 5:44 of the first period, and Mikko Eloranta made it 2-0 at 11:06.

"We came out and played hard and that's what we have to do," Bruins coach Pat Burns said. "We put everything else aside and played the game. We caught them by surprise early by really forcing them hard, caused a couple of turnovers and took a 2-0 lead."

Guerin made it 2-1 on a power play with 2:52 left in the first period. Moreau tied it with 5:20 left in the second period, and Brown gave the Oilers a 3-2 lead at 8:07 of the third.

"I think it went in off somebody, but I'll take it," Brown said. "We didn't get off to the best start and it's a good thing Billy Ranford kept us in it and gave us a chance to win."

Guerin added his 21st goal of the season 27 seconds after Brown's goal.
