INGLEWOOD, California (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Kings sent the Great Western Forum out in style. Donald Audette scored twice during a six-goal second period and Stephane Fiset made 30 saves to power the Kings to an 8-1 exhibition rout of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in their final game at the Forum before moving into the new Staples Center. Jaroslav Modry triggered the big second period 63 seconds into the session and Craig Johnson made it 3-0 just 39 seconds later. Jason Podollan tallied shorthanded at 8:29 and Audette's first goal with 9:46 left in the second gave the Kings a 5-0 cushion. Len Barrie scored his second preseason goal 39 seconds later and Audette capped the outburst with a power-play goal with one second left. Zigmund Palffy and Brad Chartrand also scored for the Kings, who improved to 3-1-1 in the preseason. Los Angeles opens its season with a seven-game trip before hosting Boston at the Staples Center on October 20. Fiset stopped all 11 shots over the first period and was beaten once on 20 shots in the final 20 minutes. Ruslan Salei scored for Anaheim, which is 2-2-1 in exhibition play. Ducks star left wing Paul Kariya was scratched with a leg injury and linemate Teemu Selanne was assessed a game misconduct at 7:15 of the third period. Dominic Roussel and Tom Askey split the goaltending duties for Anaheim.
