DENVER (Ticker) -- Warren Luhning and Sergei Zubov each had a goal and an assist and Manny Fernandez stopped 19 shots to lead the Dallas Stars to a 3-1 exhibition victory over the Colorado Avalanche in a rematch of the Western Conference finals. Luhning opened the scoring on the power play with 5:19 left in the first period. He assisted on rookie Pavel Patera's power-play goal with 2:29 remaining in the second. Calder Trophy winner Chris Drury halved the deficit 9:38 into the third with his fourth preseason goal. But Zubov capped the scoring just 44 seconds later. Dallas improved to 4-1-2 in the preseason. The Stars rested most of their regulars, including Brett Hull, Mike Modano, Derian Hatcher, Jere Lehtinen and Jamie Langenbrunner. Dallas posted a 3-0 victory over the Avalanche in the preseason opener for both teams on September 11. Rookie David Aebischer, who figures to start the season in the minors, made 23 saves for Colorado, which fell to 1-5-1.
