ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The St. Louis Blues' fourth line showed it can score, too.

The line of Jamal Mayers, Craig Conroy and Terry Yake scored twice in 30 seconds and led the Blues to a 4-2 victory over the Dallas Stars on Saturday night at Kiel Center.

Fourth-line center Craig Conroy had a goal and an assist while creating trouble for Blake Sloan and the Stars on Saturday.
"It's nice to chip in when we need to and help the team win," Conroy said. "We don't score as often as our top two lines, so when we do it makes it that much more special."

Blues coach Joel Quenneville agreed.

"Their line generated some excitement," Quenneville said.

St. Louis' win was its first this season when they trailed after two periods.

Mayers' second goal of the season tied the game 2-2 at 3:37 of the third period. Just 30 seconds later, Conroy, who assisted on Mayers' goal, took a pass from Mayers and beat Dallas goalie Ed Belfour to give St. Louis its first lead of the game.

"They moved the puck so fast they sucked us out of position," Dallas forward Mike Modano said.

Scott Young also scored in the third period for St. Louis to extend his scoring streak to four. Terry Yake had three assists for the Blues, who have won eight of their last nine at Kiel Center.

"The bottom line is we didn't spend enough time in their end," Dallas forward Brett Hull said.

The loss snapped Dallas' road winning streak at four games.

St. Louis goalie Roman Turek made 19 saves for his ninth win in 13 games.

Joe Nieuwendyk scored his eighth goal of the season at 5:07 to give Dallas a 1-0 lead. The Blues turned the puck over in their own end and Nieuwendyk beat Turek with a wrist shot.

Just over five minutes later Dallas increased its lead to 2-0.

Brenden Morrow scored his third goal of the season when he jammed in a rebound at 10:12.

"They come out and get a couple of shots and wham, we're down 2-0," Conroy said. "But we didn't give up. We wanted this game real bad."

St. Louis got a goal at the 17:19 mark of the first when Pavol Demitra scored his 14th of the season.

Pierre Turgeon had an assist to extend his scoring streak to six games. Turgeon has 18 points in his last 11 games since returning to the lineup after being out with back spasms.

St. Louis outshot Dallas 14-5 in the second period, but could not beat Belfour, who made 35 saves.

"Belfour made a couple of glove saves that were out of this world," Quenneville said.

The Blues outshot Dallas 39-21 as the Stars had their road winning streak stopped at four. It marked the 10th consecutive game St. Louis has outshot its opposition.

"When you play a quality offensive team like that, if you don't get the puck across the red line, they're going to score," Hull said.

Modano and Hull each had six-game point scoring streaks stopped.
