KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) -- Tony Meola recorded the shutout as the Kansas City Wizards remained perfect at home with a 2-0 blanking of the San Jose Earthquakes.

Midfielder Chris Henderson scored the game-winner in the 34th minute and Miklos Molnar added an insurance goal 34 minutes into the second half.

Henderson's goal was his second of the season. Forward Mo Johnston collected the ball for the Wizards before passing to Preki near midfield. Preki fed Henderson with a long pass and goalkeeper Joe Cannon got a hand on his shot before it found the back of the net.

Meola preserved his shutout in the 72nd minute, knocking away a rising free kick from Richard Mulrooney. Mulrooney launched a rocket from the top of the arc, clearing the wall and headed toward the top right corner of the net. But Meola managed to get one hand on the ball.

The Earthquakes were dealt a blow in the 74th minute when midfielder Khodadad Azizi was ejected following a tussle in front of the Kansas City goal.

Danish striker Miklos Molnar finished off the `Quakes in the 79th minute, putting his own rebound past Cannon. Matt McKeon and Henderson fed Molnar from midfield and he carried the ball into the penalty area. His shot beat Cannon but deflected off the left goalpost and back into play. Molnar collected the rebound and put it into the empty net for his third goal.
