MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Seattle Mariners were more interested in watching the U.S. Open than talking about their latest win. Jamie Moyer pitched 6 2/3 strong innings and Alex Rodriguez scored three times as the Seattle Mariners beat the Minnesota Twins 12-3 on Saturday. "I felt good tonight and I was able to keep the ball down," Moyer said, summing things up for his team. "And they hit the ball at us and we made some good defensive plays as well and Joe (Oliver) called a great defensive game behind the plate." John Olerud, Jay Buhner and David Bell had two RBI each for Seattle. Mike Cameron and Edgar Martinez added three hits apiece. The Mariners pounded out 17 hits. Eric Milton (6-2) took the loss, giving up six earned runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. "Milton looked like he got off to a good start," Twins manager Tom Kelly said. "Seattle had some good hits. We didn't have a good night." Moyer (5-2) kept the ball down and allowed just three hits in the first six innings and didn't let a runner reach second base until giving up a two-out RBI triple to David Ortiz and a two-run homer to Butch Huskey in the seventh. Moyer left after that with an 8-3 lead. "He knows how to pitch," Mariners manager Lou Piniella said. "He doesn't make many mistakes." Milton had faced just one batter over the minimum until the fourth, when Cameron led off with a single and Rodriguez followed with a double. Cameron held up at third because Rodriduez's liner was almost caught by a leaping Cristian Guzman at shortstop. "They hit some just beyond our reach and that led to a couple of big innings," Kelly said. Cameron scored on a sacrifice fly by Martinez and the Mariners added two more runs on a single by Bell, which brought home Rodriguez and Olerud. Bell was in a 13-for-76 slump entering the game. Matt Lawton set the tone for Seattle's three-run sixth, misplaying a long fly ball by Martinez into a ground-rule double. Olerud had an RBI groundout, Buhner had a run-scoring single and Mark McLemore walked with the bases loaded. Olerud added an RBI double and Buhner had a run-scoring single in the seventh to make it 8-0. Seattle added four more runs in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Rodriguez, a run-scoring single by Martinez and Raul Ibanez's two-run double. Game notesMoyer has earned a decision in each of his starts this season. ... After Milton struck out Rickey Henderson for the second time, looking on a 93 mph fastball in the third, Henderson turned around and exchanged words with home plate umpire Rick Reed. ... Milton lost for the first time since shaving his goatee following a 14-0 loss to Seattle on May 15, when he yielded eight earned runs in 2 1/3 innings. He was 4-0 with a 1.13 earned run average since removing his facial hair. ... Mike Lincoln, who relieved LaTroy Hawkins to start the seventh, made his season debut for the Twins.
