Hokies have hold on destiny

Georgia at Georgia Tech
GAME TIME:   1 p.m. ET Saturday, ABC
LAST MEETING:   1998 -- Georgia Tech 21, Georgia 19
SERIES:   Georgia leads 52-34-5

Georgia got a huge lift last week by upsetting Ole Miss on the road. The Bulldogs had come off a miserable loss to Auburn, and it looked like they were giving up. There were rumors about coach Jim Donnan leaving along withother negative energy around the program. Now he is expected to stay, and they are going to Atlanta with some momentum.

Quincy Carter has always been an exceptional quarterback, but the Bulldogs are now getting their tight ends more involved in the passing game. Randy McMichael is a Shannon Sharpe type of tight end, and I would expect Carter to spread the wealth, get the ball to McMichael and freshman Terrence Edwards, and then hand the ball to running back Jasper Sanks.

Georgia Tech is coming off a stunning loss to Wake Forest. Like Georgia, Georgia Tech has experienced a roller-coaster season. Watch for a shootout because of Joe Hamilton's ability and the diversity of the Yellow Jackets' attack. This could be a game in which the team with the ball last will win.
