SEATTLE (AP) -- Joey Galloway is still missing. So is the Seattle Seahawks offense. And unless Mike Holmgren finds it in a hurry, the Seahawks' playoff drought will stretch to 11 seasons.

In another crucial game for the Seahawks (3-2), they will face the injury-depleted Buffalo Bills (4-2) in the Kingdome on Sunday.

Holmgren was brought in from Green Bay to try to get the Seahawks back into the playoffs. Five games into the season, he is worried that might not happen.

Jon Kitna, Ricky Watters and Seattle's offense couldn't even capitalize on four pass interceptions of Erik Kramer in the second half in San Diego. The Seahawks had 201 yards, including 61 rushing, and lost 13-10.

"We were lousy on offense," Holmgren said. "I'm not going to lie to the team. That doesn't make any sense. We didn't execute very well. I don't think we hit holes very well. Our blocking was average. San Diego is a good defense, but there are a lot of good defenses."

Without holdout receiver Galloway to stretch defenses with his speed, the Seahawks offense is in serious trouble. In his first full season as starting quarterback, the relatively inexperienced Kitna is facing defenses bunched at the line of scrimmage.

"We've played against some really good defenses this year," center Kevin Glover said.

Kitna is having a decent season, but he's no Brett Favre, Holmgren's No. 1 offensive weapon with the Packers. Derrick Mayes, Sean Dawkins and Mike Pritchard aren't Galloway, either. Dawkins, signed as a free agent, was supposed to be a major contributor, but has been held to one catch in his last two games.

Watters, 30, is averaging a career-worst 3.1 yards per game and probably has slipped some. In his 21-carry, 54-yard performance in San Diego, he didn't have much running room.

The Seahawks are the only team in the league without a touchdown rushing this season.

"The run game has to be a big part of it," Kitna said. "You can't be one-dimensional. We're getting a lot of eight-man fronts and that's putting the onus on me. I have to go out and prove to people that I can beat 'em."

Three of Seattle's games have been settled by a field goal on the final play. John Carney of San Diego beat the Seahawks with a 41-yarder as time ran out last Sunday. Chicago and Oakland missed last-second field goals.

Holmgren has called on Todd Peterson to kick nine field goals.

"There's more parity than ever this year," Peterson said. "Because of that equality, games are going down to the last few seconds. I know my role on this offense is to put points on the board regardless of whether we're scoring four touchdowns or one touchdown."

Buffalo stumbled at home against Oakland last Sunday, losing 20-14 in a game that cost them top receiver Eric Moulds (hamstring) and run-stopping linebacker John Holecek (knee). Moulds is out for about four weeks.

Left guard Ruben Brown (hamstring) is listed as doubtful this week.

Doug Flutie had his worst game with three passes intercepted and six others batted down. Oakland's Tyrone Wheatley rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns.

Joe Cummings made eight tackles after Holecek went out early in the game against Oakland. He will start in Seattle.

"Ricky Watters is probably licking his chops," Cummings said.

Free safety Kurt Schulz noted the Bills were the top defensive team against the run before the Raiders game. He hopes that works in Buffalo's favor.

"They're going to see the other games, too, where we were stopping people," said Schulz. "I hope they'll get overconfident with what happened last week."

Wade Phillips, who coached the Bills into the playoffs last season, is concerned about Seattle's defense, which got interceptions from Brian Walker, Chris Canty, Cortez Kennedy and Willie Williams last weekend.

"They've got some Pro Bowlers in there who are awfully good players," Phillips said. "They're an aggressive defense."
