St Etienne winless in last five as Strasbourg fightback ends in draw

Strasbourg struck back twice as they held St Etienne to a 2-2 Ligue 1 draw at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard that left the hosts without a win from their last five league games.

The Saints broke the deadlock four minutes before the break as Brazilian Hernani collected the ball from Kevin Monnet-Paquet and curled it home from long range for his third goal of the season.

But their lead did not last long as Jean-Eudes Aholou picked out the top corner from the centre of the box to level the scores at half-time.

St Etienne doubled their score 10 minutes into the second half through Monnet-Paquet but -- just after the hour mark -- the away side hit back for the second time with a penalty, conceded by Florentin Pogba for a foul on Bakary Kone.

Jonas Martin converted the spot-kick into the bottom-left corner for a share of the spoils that leaves Strasbourg in the drop zone on goal difference, while the hosts move up a spot to sixth.
