MESA, Arizona (Ticker) -- Jimmy Haynes' miserable spring continues.

Vying for a spot in the Milwaukee Brewers' rotation, Haynes was bombed for seven runs in four innings by the Chicago Cubs this afternoon in a 12-7 Cactus League loss.

Haynes' ERA ballooned to 9.00 after he yielded seven hits, including three homers to the Cubs, who were without slugger Sammy Sosa (sore right knee). Haynes came to Milwaukee in a four-way deal after going 7-12 with a 6.34 ERA for the Oakland Athletics last season.

Damond Buford, Ricky Gutierrez and prospect Julio Zuleta all took Haynes over the wall. Zuleta, a lanky first baseman, was re-assigned to the Cubs' minor league camp despite batting .444 (20-for-45) with four homers and 14 RBI this spring.

Henry Rodriguez belted a pair of homers and drove in four runs to fuel Chicago's 11-hit attack and Felix Heredia earned the win in relief, allowing a run and two hits over two innings after entering the contest with a whopping 27.00 ERA.

Henry Blanco and Santiago Perez went deep for the Brewers.
