AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The Detroit Pistons hope to bounce back from their first loss in seven games tonight when they host the New York Knicks at the Palace.
Hill, the NBA player of the week, scored 40 points, the third time in the last four games he reached that mark. The versatile forward has scored 155 points during that stretch, but the Pistons could not overcome their season-worst 65 percent (28-of-42) performance from the foul line. Detroit maintains a solid 11-5 home record and is looking to avenge a 103-91 loss to New York here on November 5. The Knicks got on coach Jeff Van Gundy's bad side Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden by nearly squandering a 27-point second-half lead before handing on for a 95-88 triumph over the league-worst Chicago Bulls. "You get what you deserve in this game," Van Gundy said. "We deserved to be up by 25 and we deserved to almost lose the game. That is the bottom line. Some of these guys, even the veterans, just don't learn." Larry Johnson scored 19 points and hit his fourth 3-pointer of the second half to help New York clinch the win after a 33-10 Bulls' run. The Knicks are 10-9 on the road and trail first-place Miami by 1 1/2 games in the Atlantic Division.
