PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- The Charlotte Hornets hope to exact some revenge for their lone home loss tonight when they visit the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Hornets rebounded to win their next two home games, but slipped to 1-5 on the road with Saturday's 106-89 setback at Cleveland, Charlotte's largest margin of defeat this season. Eddie Jones scored 22 points on just 7-of-23 shooting for Charlotte. He leads the Hornets with 20.9 points per contest and has been their go-to guy down the stretch. Anthony Mason is averaging a team-high 10 rebounds to go with 11.1 ppg. Portland had a three-game winning streak snapped and suffered its first home loss Monday against Indiana. Rasheed Wallace tallied 20 points and 11 rebounds and Scottie Pippen had 20 and 10 for Portland, which lost for the first time in six home games and for just the third time in 16 games overall. Steve Smith leads the Blazers with 15.8 ppg and Wallace is close behind with 14.2 and a team-best 7.2 rpg. Charlotte has won four straight meetings with Portland, snapping a five-game Blazers winning streak in each of the last two encounters.
