WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- A day after a stirring come-from-behind victory in New Jersey, the Washington Wizards shoot for their fourth victory in six games tonight when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Rookie Richard Hamilton, who had nine of his 14 points in the final 12 minutes, followed Howard's three-point play with a 3-pointer from the left wing and Washington pulled away thereafter for an 85-78 win. The Wizards have not won back-to-back games since November 23-24 when they defeated Vancouver and Philadelphia. Washington has played respectably after a dreadful 1-7 start, but has lacked for offense all season, reaching the 100-point mark just three times. Shawn Kemp scored 25 points, including four crucial free throws in the final 33 seconds, as the Cavaliers held on for a 106-99 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday. Cleveland has won three of its last four games and will be shooting for its first three-game winning streak since November 3-6. Washington took two of three meetings from Cleveland last season.
