LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Lakers want to ease Kobe Bryant into the lineup tonight for the first time this season. They picked the right team against which to do it.

Bryant has been cleared to play, and Lakers coach Phil Jackson said today that while he won't start the young star, he'll give him meaningful minutes in tonight's home game with the Golden State Warriors, who are 2-11 and have lost six straight games.

Bryant missed the first 15 games of the season with a broken bone in his right hand, suffered in Los Angeles' first exhibition game. He was slated to be out six to eight weeks and missed seven before being cleared by doctors on Tuesday.

He played in all 50 games last season and registered 19.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.

Shaquille O'Neal scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Lakers handed the Seattle SuperSonics their first home loss with a 101-77 rout on Tuesday. Bryant remained in Los Angeles while protesters continued rioting against the World Trade Organization meetings outside KeyArena.

O'Neal is averaging 28.7 points and 13.4 points over the first month of the season and scored 30 or more points in six straight games before falling short in Seattle after Jackson rested the 7-1 center for most of the fourth quarter.

Even without Bryant, the Lakers seem to be adapting quickly to Jackson's coaching style and have won six of their last eight games, scoring 100 or more points in four straight.

The Warriors have put coach P.J. Carlesimo's job on the line with their season-high losing streak and have offered little resistance in each of their last three defeats. Golden State has been outscored by nearly 15 points per game during that trio of contests, illiciting strong words from some of the players.

Antawn Jamison leads the Warriors with 16.6 ppg and had 15 points in Monday's 115-99 setback at Utah.

"We are digging ourselves a hole to some pretty good teams," Jamison said. "This is the NBA, with some of the best athletes in the world. You spot them a 15-, 20-, 25-point lead in the first quarter, it's going to be difficult for you to try to come back and get a victory."

The Warriors have lost 12 of their last 14 meetings with the Lakers.
