Late heartache for Fifers

Falkirk struck twice in injury time to snatch a dramatic 3-1 victory over plucky East Fife in the first round of the Petrofac Training Cup.Bob McHugh snaffled a rebound and John Baird then smashed in a shot off the bar - both with 90 minutes on the clock - as the Championship side avoided being taken to extra time by the League Two outfit at Falkirk Stadium. The Bairns had started superbly, taking the lead after just two minutes as Peter Grant headed home from a Craig Sibbald free-kick.But the Fifers produced a plucky performance and pushed their hosts all the way after equalising through Kevin Smith after 14 minutes.
