Eintracht Frankfurt came back from two goals down at half-time to salvage a 2-2 draw at home to Werder Bremen and keep in touch with the Bundesliga's European places.

Werder looked to be set fair at the interval after two goals in six minutes from Zlatko Junuzovic and Fin Bartels -- the latter a wonderful lob to cap a fine passing move.

But the hosts did not lie down and rescued a point through Mijat Gacinovic's volley and a 73rd-minute penalty from the boot of Marco Fabian.

A draw at Commerzbank-Arena left Eintracht two points from a Europa League spot heading into the weekend having played a game more than the field, while the visitors are two points further into mid-table.

Junuzovic broke the deadlock after 37 minutes when he got on the end of Florian Kainz's cross and beat the goalkeeper with a smart first-time finish.

With half-time looming Niko Kovac's side shipped a second, cut open by a flowing move from the back.

After some neat passing upfield Bartels controlled a high ball with his chest, laid it off for Max Kruse and then produced a finessed chip when the latter headed it back into his path.

Eintracht reduced the arrears less than two minutes after the restart, Gacinovic netting his first league goal for the club from a corner to end a 486-minute lean spell.

The equaliser came when Niklas Moisander conceded a penalty and Fabian stepped up to convert from the spot.
