      Jack Marriott nets again as Posh end losing run

      Peterborough snapped a four-match losing run when enjoying a final home hurrah by beating Fleetwood 2-0.League One's leading scorer Jack Marriott and George Cooper provided the second-half goals at the ABAX Stadium.Marriott produced a fine full-stretch finish six minutes into the second half to register his 33rd goal of a prolific campaign.And Cooper sealed the points with 12 minutes to go when delivering an exquisite finish to a fine cross from recently-introduced substitute Danny Lloyd.Only the woodwork prevented Posh, who have faded out of play-off contention, from winning far more emphatically.Anthony Grant blasted against the underside of the crossbar early on before Fleetwood goalkeeper Chris Neal reacted smartly to tip a mis-directed header from Ashley Eastham against the bar.Gwion Edwards saw Neal fumble his rocket shot against the bar just before the hour.Fleetwood full-back Lewis Coyle was also frustrated by the woodwork when curling a stoppage-time effort against the angle of post and bar.

        Wigan clinch promotion to the Championship with Fleetwood triumph

        Wigan clinched promotion to the Championship with a convincing 4-0 victory over Fleetwood at Highbury.Fleetwood's new head coach Joey Barton watched on from the stands as the side he will take over on June 2 were not strong enough against the Champions elect, who steamrolled them in the second half.And Paul Cook's men did it all without star man Nick Powell as Shrewsbury's draw with Bury ensured they could no longer be caught by Paul Hurst's outfit with a 10-point cushion and just three games left to play. Though in the first half it was not the stroll in the park the scoreline reflects as Fleetwood put up a fight with boss John Sheridan left to rue what could have been had one of Ash Hunter's chances gone in. Wigan got their opening goal in the 32nd minute as Max Power fired home as Fleetwood crumbled from therein with Gavin Massey pirouetting in the box before sliding the ball past Alex Cairns in the 36th minute to double the score.Dan Burn calmly fired home in the 57th minute, while fellow centre half Chey Dunkley - not wanting to be left out - added the gloss as he converted from close range in the 66th minute.In the end it could have been more as Latics took advantage of Fleetwood's new laidback mentality in the first of Sheridan's final three games before the new Barton era.

          Blackpool leave it late to see off Fleetwood

          Armand Gnanduillet struck a stoppage-time winner as Blackpool scored two goals in the final six minutes to beat Fylde Coast neighbours Fleetwood 2-1.After a competitive opening, the Seasiders came within inches of taking the lead in the 25th minute as Jay Spearing's 25-yard shot struck the right-hand upright.Fleetwood had an opportunity on the counter after an hour when Blackpool goalkeeper Joe Lumley came out of his area but was rounded by Wes Burns, who spurned the chance to shoot when presented with an open goal.It was the Cod Army who took the lead after 75 minutes when Colin Daniel misjudged a long ball and Burns' effort was deflected in after Jordy Hiwula's shot came back off a post.Blackpool grabbed their equaliser in superb fashion with two minutes remaining when the ball dropped for Viv Solomon-Otabor and he smashed a volley into the top corner from 12 yards.And the dramatic winner came in the fourth minute of time added on as Gnanduillet powered a header in from six yards from Dolly Menga's cross.

            Conor McAleny's stoppage-time strike sinks Oxford

            Conor McAleny struck a stunning stoppage-time winner for Fleetwood as they won 1-0 at Oxford.McAleny, who was on loan at the Kassam Stadium last season, came off the bench in the second half and cut in from the left and hammered a ferocious 25-yard drive over keeper Simon Eastwood.The defeat was a sickener for the U's, who remain just five points above the relegation zone, but they again lacked a cutting edge up front.And the U's have still not managed to beat Fleetwood in eight attempts.Eastwood came to their rescue with two superb saves in quick succession in the second half.He saved with his feet from Bobby Grant following a poor backpass by John Mousinho, then acrobatically turned aside Kyle Dempsey's drive.Oxford edged the first half with Ricardinho providing inspiration down the left.Alex Mowatt went close with an 18-yard drive, and Alex Cairns tipped over a header from Wes Thomas.Later, Thomas almost scored with a jinking run and shot that Cairns turned around his post but it was McAleny who decided it.

              Hunter and Hiwula on target as Fleetwood see off 10-man Bristol Rovers

              Fleetwood Town took one mighty leap to League One survival with a 2-0 victory as 10-man Bristol Rovers became John Sheridan's latest victim.Sheridan has steered Fleetwood from the bottom four to 13th in a seven-match unbeaten run since taking the reins from Uwe Rosler and his side hit the 51-point mark with a gritty performance against Rovers.It was a clash that was as grey as the skies above Highbury until a second-half sending-off woke the game up.Bristol's Chris Lines only had himself to blame as he picked up two bookings in quick succession.The Bristol man was livid by referee Ross Joyce's refusal to award a set-piece after Ellis Harrison and Cian Bolger tangled in Town's half and received a yellow for his protestations in the 55th minute.But just two minutes later - even after Joyce had told skipper Tom Lockyer to calm his man down - Lines still persisted with his complaints and Joyce sent him for an early bath. Fleetwood used that man advantage to take the lead through Ashley Hunter, although Rovers nearly struck back but the woodwork thwarted a late Harrison screamer.Sheridan's men finally put the game to bed in the 89th minute as Jordy Hiwula latched on to Bobby Grant's through ball to calmly slot home with the hosts securing their fifth-straight clean sheet.
