Nicholls rolls past Spring Hill 127-83 in home opener
THIBODAUX, La. -- Lafayette Rutledge hit six 3-pointers on his way to 23 points and Roddy Peters chipped in with 20 points, seven assists and six rebounds as Nicholls rolled to a 127-83 victory over Division II Spring Hill in the Colonels' home opener Friday night.
Tevon Saddler added 15 points, four assists and three steals for Nicholls. The Colonels (2-1), who came in averaging 11.5 3-pointers per game, knocked down 19 of 36 attempts (52.8 percent). Nicholls shot 57.9 percent overall (44 of 76).
Andrew Dotson scored 25 points on 8-of-14 shooting, including 4 of 6 from beyond the arc, for the Badgers. William Loyd added 11 points and reserve Matevz Rojc 10.
Spring Hill hit 28 of 59 shots from the floor (47.5 percent) and 7 of 17 from 3-point range (41.2 percent).
Nicholls forced 26 turnovers, 11 of them on steals. The Colonels led 69-44 at halftime.
