Cooks scores 24, NJIT beats Lipscomb 75-57

NEWARK, N.J. -- Zach Cooks scored 24 points, San Antonio Brinson added 17 and NJIT beat Lipscomb 75-57 on Thursday.

Cooks and Brinson combined for seven straight points to give NJIT the first double-digit lead of the game at 23-11 and the Highlanders led 47-31 at the break.

Reilly Walsh had 11 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals for NJIT (5-12, 2-2 Atlantic Sun). The Highlanders had 22 assists on 32 field goals, and shot 58.2% overall. Cooks was 11 of 18 from the field and Brinson had six rebounds and four assists.

Brinson was named the Atlantic Sun player of the week on Monday after setting a program record with 37 points against previously undefeated North Florida.

Ahsan Asadullah led Lipscomb (7-11, 2-3) with 20 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals. Michael Buckland added 11 points. Lipscomb shot just 38.% from the field, including 2 of 15 from 3-point range.
