Florida A&M comeback nets an 82-78 overtime win over Howard

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Kamron Reaves put Florida A&M in front in the final minute of overtime, then added two free throws with three seconds left to help seal an 82-78 win over Howard on Saturday night.

Howard got within one point with :05 left in overtime after Wayne Bristol Jr. hit a 3 to make it 79-78, but after Reaves made it 81-78 with two free throws with :03 remaining, the Bison turned the ball over and DJ Jones added a made free throw to set the final score.

Rod Melton Jr. hit a 3 with :06 left in regulation to pull Florida A&M even at 71-71 and force the extra period.

Evins Desir had 18 points to lead five Florida A&M players in double figures. Reaves added 15 points, Jones chipped in 13, Melton scored 11 and Brendon Myles had 10. Reaves also had seven assists, while Jones posted 11 rebounds.

The Rattlers (8-13, 6-4 Mid-Eastern Conference) forced a season-high 23 turnovers.

Nate Garvey scored a career-high 20 points for the Bison (2-23, 0-10), whose losing streak reached 13 games. Charles Williams added 17 points. Phillip Jones had 13 points.

The Rattlers improve to 2-0 against the Bison on the season. Florida A&M defeated Howard 87-83 on Jan. 25. Florida A&M takes on NC A&T at home on Monday. Howard matches up against Bethune-Cookman on the road on Monday.
