Moore with 20 leads SC Upstate past Div.-III Brevard 86-43

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Malik Moore scored 20 points with seven rebounds and five assists and SC Upstate beat Division-III Brevard College 86-43 on Saturday.

Nevin Zink, Everette Hammond and Thomas Booker each added 14 points for the Spartans (1-1). Zink led the team with eight rebounds. SC Upstate shot 49 percent from the field overall compared to 37 percent for Brevard College and outrebounded the Tornados 42-25.

Booker sank a 3-pointer to cap a 20-7 start for the Spartans and they led all the way to a 44-24 advantage at the break. In the second half, the Spartans' shooting improved to 58 percent and they cruised to the win.

SC Upstate finished with 12 steals contributing to 21 Brevard turnovers. The Tornados took 16 shots from beyond the arc but made only four of them.

Levi Lamb scored 11 points with four rebounds for the Tornados.
