Fort Wayne beats Division III Defiance 114-59 in home opener

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Bryson Scott had 21 points, five rebounds, seven assists and five steals to help Fort Wayne beat Division III Defiance 114-59 on Sunday in the Mastodons' home opener.

Kason Harrell added 17 points and Matt Weir made four 3-pointers and scored 16 points for Fort Wayne (1-1), which wore special red and yellow shooting shirts and shoes for military appreciation day.

Fort Wayne jumped out to a 32-8 lead and extended it to 57-25 by halftime. All 10 Mastodons that played in the first half scored and 12 finished with points.

Jonathan Ragland made four 3-pointers and scored 14 points for Defiance, which has two players from Fort Wayne on its roster. Freshmen guards Davontae Kinnie and Elijah Holmes played at Northside High School. Kinnie finished with 12 points and Holmes missed both of his shots.

The Yellow Jackets were held to 36 percent shooting and turned it over 20 times.
