Louisiana Tech scores 14 points in final minute, wins 42-28

HOUSTON -- Boston Scott powered straight up the middle for a 2-yard touchdown and Trey Spencer returned a pick-6 -- both in the final minute -- as Louisiana Tech rallied to a 42-28 win over Rice on Saturday.

Scott had earlier scored on runs of 5 and 6 yards as he tied his career high with three TDs in a game. He gained 87 yards on 17 carries.

Sam Glaesmann led Rice on fourth-quarter scoring drives of 61 and 83 yards as the Owls pulled even at 28-28 with 4:33 left. After Scott's go-ahead, Rice tried to go 75 yards in the last 60 seconds but Glaesmann was intercepted by Spencer, who raced 37 yards for the score. A final Owls' drive in the last 36 seconds ended when Daryl Lewis intercepted a Jackson Tyner deep pass into the end zone.

J'Mar Smith went 21-for-32 passing for 237 yards and a TD for Louisiana Tech (4-4, 2-2 Conference USA). Glaesmann rushed for two TDs for Rice (1-7, 1-3) and threw another to Aaron Cephus.
