Sources: Troy expected to hire Kansas OC Lindsey

Chip Lindsey, who joined Kansas as its offensive coordinator last month, is expected to be named head coach at Troy, sources told ESPN's Adam Rittenberg. He replaces Neal Brown, who moved on to West Virginia last week.

ESPN sources: Kansas offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey is expected to be named the next head coach at Troy. Football Scoop first reported the move. Lindsey joined the Kansas staff last month after spending the last two seasons as Auburn's offensive coordinator. He returns to his native Alabama, where he began his career as a longtime high school coach. Troy also considered Tulane offensive coordinator Will Hall, Louisiana-Lafayette defensive coordinator Ron Roberts and Ole Miss linebackers coach Jon Sumrall for the job.

Sources: Ex-Kansas coach David Beaty will not be in Austin this week helping Texas prepare for the Big 12 title game. He'll remain at his home in Kansas. He will speak with Longhorns coach Tom Herman over the phone to give his thoughts on the game, but the two have talked regularly throughout the season about certain teams. They're good friends. This isn't really out of the ordinary, I'm told.

Texas to the Big 12 title game. The No. 14 Longhorns avoid another colossal upset at Kansas, winning 24-17 with a lot of defense and a little of everything else. First appearance in the title game for Texas since 2009.

Kansas' Bender fires 31-yard TD pass (0:25)
Pooka Williams Jr. rips of 57-yard TD (0:30)
Texas' Ehlinger muscles in for 3-yard TD (0:28)
Tre Williams' 31-yard run sets up Ehlinger's 5-yard TD pass (0:34)

Texas offensively has done next to nothing since its 98-yard drive to open the game -- four punts and a pick now after one failed drive in the third quarter. Horns are getting it done defensively. But this is no great spot for Tom Herman's team, trying to secure its spot next week in Arlington with a win over Kansas in coach David Beaty's final game.

All kinds of ugliness today for Texas punt returns. The Horns finally get good field position -- but Brandon Jones is hammered by Kansas safety Emmanuel Moore. Targeting. Moore is ejected.

Pooka Williams Jr. spins and reverses field on 11-yard run (0:26)
Texas' Ehlinger lofts 26-yard TD pass (0:24)
