CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- A pair of Eastern Conference teams jockeying for playoff position meet tonight when the Philadelphia 76ers visit the Charlotte Hornets.
Allen Iverson, the high-scoring All-Star guard, recorded a regular-season career-high nine steals to go with 18 points and 10 assists as Philadelphia held off Orlando, 89-85, on Sunday. But Iverson dropped to second in the NBA scoring race after the Lakers' Shaquille O'Neal threw down 43 points against New York the same day. Last season, O'Neal was edged for the scoring title by Iverson. Charlotte has won all three games against Philadelphia this season and will be going for the sweep tonight. The Hornets' 31 all-time wins and 18 home victories against the Sixers are their most against any single team in the NBA. Charlotte has dropped two in a row and three of five, including Saturday's 113-99 loss at Indiana. The Hornets have allowed their opponents to score at least 100 points in four of the last five.
