LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Clippers look to sneak out of the league's basement tonight when they host the Washington Wizards.
The Clippers set a franchise record for the lowest point total allowed in one quarter, allowing eight in the first quarter, but surrendered 96 points over the final three. The Clippers have lost three straight and eight of their last 10 to fall into a tie with Chicago for the worst record in the NBA. Los Angeles snapped a four-game losing streak against Washington with a 98-89 victory on November 20. Eric Piatkowski scored 25 points to lead the Clippers. The Wizards posted back-to-back wins for the second time this month with an impressive 101-88 victory over the Bulls on Saturday. Rod Strickland led the way with 13 points and nine assists for the Wizards, who are in last place in the Atlantic Division. In an attempt to salvage a mediocre season, Mitch Richmond has stepped up in recent action, averaging 20.8 points in his last six games. Twice he collected 32 points in that span, but his season average of 16.2 falls almost six points below his career average.
