DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Dallas Stars aim to extend their unbeaten
streak over the Los Angeles Kings to an astounding 22 games when
the teams meet tonight.
Los Angeles has not won in the series since a 3-2 home victory on April 6, 1995. Dallas capped off an impressive 4-2 road trip with consecutive victories at Los Angeles last Thursday and Chicago on Sunday, respectively, to move them within a point of Phoenix in the Pacific Division race. The Stars hold the fifth spot in the Western Conference with 57 points. Tonight begins a four-game homestand for the Stars, who also host St. Louis, Edmonton and Atlanta. Mike Modano, who has been slowed by injuries, tops the Stars with 17 goals and 38 points and has four points in his last two games. Dallas has scored at least one power-play goal in each of the last four games, going 5-for-21 over that time. On the flip side, Los Angeles' penalty-killing unit has allowed at least one tally in its last three, going 4-for-19 overall. Los Angeles has won two of three since a three-game losing streak, including a 3-2 home victory against Colorado on Sunday. Glen Murray and Jozef Stumpel both returned from injuries to score goals. Luc Robitaille recorded two assists on Sunday and has five goals and nine points over his last eight games. He tops the Kings with 20 goals and is third with 36 points.
