ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Phoenix Coyotes look for their third
straight win and try to maintain the top spot in the Pacific
Division when they battle the Atlanta Thrashers for the first
time tonight.
Phoenix is 4-1-1 in its last six while maintaining first place in the Pacific. The Coyotes have been idle since a 3-2 overtime victory against division foe San Jose on Sunday. Phoenix is one point ahead of Dallas in the Pacific race and is tied for second in the Western Conference with 58 points. Recent trade rumors have not affected Keith Tkachuk's performance on the ice as the left wing has produced four goals and two assists in his last six games. Atlanta is once again suffering from the expansion blues, going 0-3-2 in its last five games. The Thrashers have alternated losses and ties in the last five and are coming off a 6-3 home setback to the New York Rangers on Monday. Atlanta, which trails Tampa Bay by one point in the Southeast Division and can move out of last place with a victory. The Thrashers are only 6-22-3 outside the division. The Thashers are 0-2-1 on a homestand that concludes tonight. Andrew Brunette has scored 18 of his team's 108 goals. Only the New York Islanders (98) and Montreal (105) have scored less.
