Primeau, acquired from Carolina on Sunday for forward Rod Brind'Amour and minor-league goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier, gives Philadelphia another bruising presence at center while providing insurance should the oft-injured Lindros go down again.

Primeau led the Hurricanes with 30 goals and 62 points last season, but held out all season in a contract dispute. Moments after the trade, the Flyers signed Primeau to a five-year contract worth a reported $23 million.

Lindros skated with the team Wednesday and will return after missing four games with a concussion suffered in 1-0 loss to Atlanta on January 14 that started Philadelphia's current 0-3-2 slide.

The Flyers' captain, Lindros, 26, is third on the team in scoring with 17 goals and 26 assists in 39 games.

Philadelphia is second in the Atlantic Division with 59 points, 11 behind first-place New Jersey. The Flyers were three behind the Devils at the time of Lindros' latest ailment.

Philadelphia posted 2-0 and 6-1 wins over Florida in the first two meetings of the season before the Panthers countered with a 3-1 triumph on January 17.

Florida suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to the Devils on Wednesday as New Jersey's Patrik Elias scored with 1.7 seconds remaining following a defensive zone turnover by the Panthers.

Depite the loss, Florida has been playing good hockey, posting a 6-2-1 mark over its last nine games and is tied with Toronto for fourth in the league standings with 63 points.

Pavel Bure is tied with Pittsburgh's Jaromir Jagr for the league lead in goals, scoring 34 in just 40 games -- two less than Jagr. The Panthers are 20-1-2 when Bure scores a goal.
