After committing to Tennessee a week ago, ESPN 100 small forward Chris Clarke (No. 63) had a change of heart and has committed to Virginia Tech. Clarke is from Virginia Beach.
"Under further consideration from our decision last Thursday, Chris has decided to stay local and attend Virginia Tech," his father, Curt Clarke, said. "This is best for our family."
After the pledge to the Volunteers was made, there was some unrest and more thought was put into the decision.
"After the original decision was made, all considerations was given and we had to rethink Chris' long-term plans," Curt Clarke said in a statement. "Virginia Tech works best for him and his family situation."
Playing in his home state of Virginia was something that became much more important as the family rethought the Tennessee decision.
"Virginia Tech is a school that he can go to and flourish as a Virginia kid," Curt's statement said. "He will be able to make an impact over the next four years staying within the state."
Clarke joins power forward Kerry Blackshear Jr. and point guard Justin Robinson in coach Buzz Williams' first recruiting class in Blacksburg.
