Multiple sources are confirming that 6-foot-10 center Phillip Nolan (Milwaukee/Riverside University H.S.) has committed to Connecticut. The big man also announced the news via his Twitter account.
Nolan joins ESPN 100 guard Omar Calhoun in coach Jim Calhoun's incoming class. He chose the Huskies over Clemson, Marquette and Oregon, among others.
ESPN.com Recruiting Coordinator Reggie Rankin recently caught Nolan in action on the AAU circuit.
"He's an extra long and lean post who's extremely mobile and very athletic," Rankin said. "He can face and make plays from the high post and elevate over defenders down low. He's mainly productive with his length not his strength and he needs to finish better in traffic but his upside is huge."
"Overall a nice pickup for the Huskies becuase he has high major bounce and will benefit greatly from a college strength and conditioning program," he added. "He'll need to stay focused throughout games in order to be a consistent point, rebounde and shot block producer but he's got great upside and with hard work his best days lie ahead."
