UA jersey tour: WR N'Keal Harry

WATCH: N'Keal Harry UA jersey presentation

Wide receiver N’Keal Harry received his Under Armour All-America Game jersey on Thursday, in a presentation sponsored by American Family Insurance. While all of his coaches and much of the school attended the pep rally to honor Harry, there was an especially important figure there for the nation’s No. 56 overall prospect: his grandmother.

Harry’s grandmother, Felna Harry, has raised Harry since he was four, as the two moved from the island of Saint Vincent to Arizona. Harry keeps in touch with his mother, who is still in Saint Vincent, but his grandmother has played a huge role in his life, and will continue to do so moving forward.

Thursday represented another high point in Harry’s football career.

“It is a real honor,” said the 6-foot-3, 205-pound receiver. “When I was little, I saw all those guys like Julio Jones playing in the game. For me to be in the same position, I’m really honored.”

On the recruiting front, Harry has official visits scheduled to Washington (Sept. 25), Texas A&M (Oct. 16) and Oregon (Nov. 27), though he added additional schools such as Louisville, Nebraska and Texas could also receive visits. Both the local schools -- Arizona and Arizona State -- are pushing hard for Harry, and could receive a huge boost depending on the outcome of an upcoming conversation between Harry and his grandmother.

“I’m still really open to both schools,” Harry said of Arizona and Arizona State. “I have to talk to my grandma to see if she wants me to stay in state.

“That’s definitely a big step. It would be a big influence, but at the end of the day, I have to go wherever I feel like I can have the most success. But her saying that would definitely influence me a lot.”

Harry said his initial plan was to make his announcement at the Under Armour Game, but now the timeline is more up in the air, with the possibility of a decision coming sooner than that.

Five questions with N’Keal Harry

If you could start a team with any other player in your class who would it be?

“I’m not sure. It’s between Chase [Lucas] and Byron [Murphy]. I’m stuck between both of them, but those would have to be my two picks.”

Who is the best player to ever play in the Under Armour Game?

“That might be Julio Jones.”

Which football player did you idolize or want to be like when you were a kid?

“It would have to be Calvin Johnson. I feel like I model my play after him, the way he goes up and attacks the ball at the highest point.”

If you could take on any pro player in their sport who would it be?

“Kobe Bryant. He’s kind of my idol and it would be cool to play against him and see how he is in person.”

Why do you wear your number?

“I really like No. 1. I’ve been wearing it all through high school for basketball, football and baseball. It’s really just my favorite number.”
